The blog of a Finnish art student. I mostly paint and draw people, occasionally other things.
Portrait in pencil of Hayao Miyazaki, founder of Studio Ghibli and director of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and Ponyo.
(I drew this with a 6B pencil. It took about 2 hours.)
Three watercolors (which I don’t know how to describe since they’re not sketches, but not full paintings either)…
A trawler at anchor.
(Brush and ink)
I made a new print which I’m calling “Månseende”.
It is a relief print, printed with watercolors and seven printing blocks. Some of the techniques used were based on those of Japanese woodblock prints.
Portrait on blue background, oil on canvas, 40×50cm, 2014
My first try at making a two-colored linocut. Been calling this print: ”Röd grafik” (or red printmaking, in english).
The printmaking course continues and the second print I made was this drypoint. I used the motif from van Gogh’s painting of sunflowers since I thought it might render well with this technique.
We’re having a printmaking course at my school, and here is a picture of a print I made.
